Important Notice: Temporary Suspension of Shipments to the United States
Due to regulatory uncertainties concerning new US customs duties and import requirements, our standard shipping carrier, Poste Italiane (Italian Post), and several other European postal operators have temporarily suspended the shipment of merchandise to the United States.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes our US customers. This is not a commercial decision on our part, but a necessary action taken by the postal service to prevent packages from being severely delayed, blocked at US Customs, or subject to unexpected and high fees for the recipient.
Understanding the Suspension and New US Tariff Rules
The suspension is a direct result of changes made by the US administration concerning the handling of tariffs, especially for lower-value packages.
- The End of the De Minimis Exemption: Previously, most small shipments valued under $800 (known as the de minimis threshold) could enter the US duty-free with simplified procedures. The new regulations have removed or heavily restricted this exemption for goods originating from certain countries, including those shipped via the standard postal network.
- The Impact: This means that many packages that were once simple and duty-free are now subject to new tariffs (customs duties) and additional, more complex customs documentation.
- Carrier’s Action: Since the specific technical instructions and procedures for properly calculating and paying these new duties are unclear or not fully implemented by US Customs, Poste Italiane has been forced to halt standard merchandise services to avoid placing an unacceptable burden on both the shipper and the customer.
